Event Opportunities

Held in 2010 the event consists of four days of activities cumulating in Race Day on Saturday 25th September.  The following list describes likely marketing opportunities.  Note that the World Airline Road Race 2010 London may deviate from this list depending on local circumstances or opportunities.

Pre-event Promotion

  • The event will be well marketed at British Airways Head Office and other locations to attract marshals and participants.
  • VIP Reception

  • This is held early in the week and looks forward to the week’s activities.
  • Registration (day 1, 2 and 3)

  • Participants pick up their race packets including their running numbers,
  • The WARRtering Hole (day 1, 2, 3 and even race day)

  • A convenient meeting point for acquaintances, old and new. Usually alongside a bar!
  • Team Captains' Meeting and Future Events Meeting,

  • Serious business time. Usually on day 2.
  • Mayor’s Reception

  • Team Captains meet with the local dignitary, usually on day 2.
  • The Meet and Greet

  • A day 2 informal evening get together for all participants.
  • The T Shirt Party

  • A very popular day 3 event where airline teams display the shirts that they have had specially designed for the event.  Swapping of shirts is the order of the day leading to lots of banter and goodwill across the teams,
  • The T Shirt Competition

  • Conducted during the T Shirt Swap Party the presentation of an award to the team whose T Shirt design is judged the most appropriate for the event.
  • Races - Saturday 25th September

  • 10k and 5k races – often with an early start time to ensure that roads can be kept closed for both races.
  • Gala Awards Dinner

  • A formal dinner for participants. The evening includes speeches around the presentation of awards. Awards are given in each age category, for individuals and teams, for each race and overall. There are also participation awards relating to size of team and distance travelled. The evening may be interspaced with performances with local flavour, and is completed with a dance.
